Use in ChatGPT

Install GroupMixer from the ChatGPT plugin directory, then add it to a chat. No developer mode or manual server setup is needed.

Basic grouping needs no GroupMixer account. Existing Free and Pro limits apply to advanced generation.

Try this example after adding GroupMixer to your chat, or replace it with your own roster and rules.

Use GroupMixer to create a new workspace for 32 participants labelled P01 through P32, with 8 groups of 4 across 5 rounds. Minimize repeated meetings.

Show me the setup so I can review it and choose Generate in the GroupMixer workspace. Keep my existing work unchanged. After generation, help me inspect the actual saved result and export the schedule.

From a conversation to a schedule

Describe your groups
Install the plugin, add GroupMixer to a chat, and give it your roster, rounds, group sizes, and rules. ChatGPT prepares the setup in the workspace.
Review, then Generate
Check the participants and rules, then choose Generate in the GroupMixer workspace. Keep it open while the solver runs on your device.
Inspect and export
Review the actual assignments, repeated meetings, balance, and any reported constraint issues. Adjust the setup or export the schedule from the workspace.

Check the entered roster and rules before relying on a schedule. An assistant can make mistakes; GroupMixer’s account requirements and Free or Pro limits still apply.

Other assistants and manual MCP setup

For custom connections

Assistants that can show interactive apps can connect to GroupMixer directly. Your assistant prepares the scenario, and GroupMixer opens in the chat so you can review it, solve it in your browser, and export the result.

MCP server URL

The connector needs no authentication. GroupMixer’s account requirements and Free or Pro limits still apply in the app. Tools that cannot show apps, such as many coding and command-line agents, cannot solve through it; use the API for that.

Connect an interactive assistant

Open your assistant’s settings for custom apps or MCP connections.
Add the server URL above with no authentication.
Start a chat, add GroupMixer, and describe the groups you need.

Your assistant must support interactive MCP Apps. For ChatGPT, use the published plugin above; custom connections through developer mode are optional.

Using an assistant with browser control?

Enable your assistant’s browser or computer-control tools and use a browser session you can also access. Check which window it controls: your already-open GroupMixer tab is not automatically connected.

A chat that can only read links cannot operate the app. It can still help you prepare a roster and decide on rules to enter yourself.

Use a browser session that I can also access. If you cannot control a browser, tell me before proceeding.

First ask me for the participant list, group sizes or group count, number of rounds, and any rules: people to keep together or apart, attributes to balance, or attendance changes. Clarify missing details instead of guessing.

Create a new saved scenario without overwriting my existing work. Enter the participants, groups, rounds, and rules in the app, then show me the setup.

Configure the solver in the app and run it there so I can follow its progress. If a rule is unsupported or needs a different plan, explain that instead of dropping it.

Open the saved result in GroupMixer. Explain the actual assignments, repeated meetings, balance, and any reported constraint issues. Distinguish a good result from a proven optimum. Leave the scenario and results available for me to review and export.

Know where your roster goes

The web app runs its solver in the browser. Information you paste into an AI chat, or let its browser tools read, is also handled by that assistant’s provider. Local solving does not make your AI conversation local.

With the connector, the scenario your assistant prepares also passes through GroupMixer’s MCP endpoint, which does not keep it. Solving still happens in your browser.

Use participant labels instead of names when that is enough, and share only the attributes needed for grouping. Cloud synchronization and sharing are separate app features.

Building an integration?

Agents with HTTP tools can use the hosted solver API. Its documentation covers request formats, keys, quotas, and response retention. Hosted requests send the scenario to the API service.

Browser integrations can also call window.GroupMixerAgent to validate and solve locally. Those calls return data; they do not automatically populate the visible scenario or results. Use the app’s interface for the workflow above.
