Quick Setup or Scenario Editor?

Compare the two editors

Both editors update the same saved scenario during normal use. They differ in how much of that scenario they expose.

Use Quick Setup when its visible fields cover the schedule. Use the Scenario Editor for different room capacities, partial attendance, selected-session rules, advanced preferences, or solver controls.

Enter data in Quick Setup

Quick Setup is not a table. Paste one participant per line in Name. Attribute columns stay aligned by line.

For a repeated categorical attribute, open Quick choices in that attribute header:

• define up to 6 choices;
• select Regular text or Choice buttons;
• optionally set a Default choice for blank and newly added participants;
• use Fill blanks without replacing existing values;
• use Custom value for a value outside the configured buttons.

A choice currently assigned to someone cannot be removed until that value is cleared or replaced. Switching back to Regular text keeps the underlying attribute values.

All Quick Setup import formats replace the visible participant and attribute columns. Names list and Spreadsheet CSV do not ask for a second replacement confirmation. Zoom CSV also replaces the list in Quick Setup; it does not merge into the current roster. The import preview reports rows that will be imported or skipped.

Enter data in the Scenario Editor

The People section offers Cards, List, and CSV views.

• Add Person opens fields for Name, Attributes, and Session Participation.
• Names list and Spreadsheet CSV ask Replace the current people with this import? when people already exist.
• Zoom breakout CSV merges by email: matching people receive zoom_email and zoom_room; unmatched emails create new people.
• List and CSV changes remain staged until Apply changes. Discard changes restores the saved rows.

The Scenario Editor also separates Attribute Definitions from People. Define the attribute name and possible values first, then assign those values to people.

Switch without losing advanced settings

Select Open scenario editor from Quick Setup to continue with the same scenario. Quick Setup does not rebuild the scenario from only the fields it can display.

When the scenario contains unsupported settings, Quick Setup shows This scenario uses advanced settings and states that some settings are not shown. Some visible values may become read-only. Select Review full scenario to edit them in the Scenario Editor.

Representable Quick Setup changes still apply to the shared scenario. Hidden attendance, capacities, advanced constraints, objectives, and solver settings remain stored. If another edit changes the saved scenario before a pending Quick Setup edit is applied, GroupMixer offers Keep my edits or Reload saved setup instead of overwriting either version.
